Q: What is included in the Pony Pals and Pony BFF package Fact Files?

If you have selected the Pony Pals or Pony BFF package you will also be given a Fact File for your pony. This is a great way to get to know your pony even better. It is a multi-page colour document in a plastic display binder and includes detailed text and images about your pony, such as a pony profile, some fun facts about them, their daily routine, background & life history, some pony care tips for your visits, some photos of your pony, space to add your pony's monthly postcards and your own photos from your visits, some age-appropriate pony activity sheets and a quiz to test how well you know your pony.

We designed this program as a fun, stimulating experience for both boys and girls, anywhere 1-10 years old, of all sizes and abilities (and also for parents, who love it just as much as their kids!)

Where does my pony live?

Your pony lives with their horsey friends (and human companion, Janet) on a farm in the hills of Flowerdale, roughly 60 minutes north of Melbourne.

Can I choose which pony?

Accepted Answer

Yes! We have several ponies you can choose from, depending on your personality, interests and abilities. Younger, older, shorter, taller, white, brown, spotty, cheeky, quiet... There's something to suit everyone. If you need help choosing the most appropriate pony for you, just ask and we can help match you up with your perfect pony.

What kinds of things can I do with the ponies during my visits?

Every session is different, and you can do whatever you like, but we recommend the following:
1) Get to know your pony and brush it's body and mane
2) Have a hand-led trail ride on your pony through our beautiful bushland
3) Finish by feeding carrots and apples to the pony to say thanks

Do I need to bring anything or buy any pony gear?

No, we provide you with everything you need; brushes, food, riding and safety gear. All you need are sensible clothes, sturdy shoes and a good attitude.

Where can I ride my pony?

Our fenced property in Flowerdale has many paddocks and a wide range of riding trails. There are flat areas, hillsides, gullies, native bushland, dams, grassy fields and more. Come and explore!

Can we choose a different pony after we've already signed up?

Accepted Answer

For the best experiences for both horse and rider, we encourage you to develop a personal friendship with your chosen pony, which takes time. However, it's also important to us that you're a good match. if you wish to select a different pony just speak to us and we'll help adjust things to suit your requests.

Question 9

Can I visit any time I like?

Accepted Answer

Visit as often as you like. Each package includes a certain number of visits per quarter, so you can come every day, every week, or every month — whatever suits. All we ask is that you book in advance to ensure that your pony is at home on the day, all ready for you, and so that one of our helpers is available to assist during your session.

What if we have used all our sessions and want to add more?

It's our priority that you feel able to connect with your pony as much as you need to. If you've run out of sessions and would like to add more, even for just one quarter, just speak to us and we'll be able to sort out something very reasonable with you.

Question 11

How far in advance do I need to book?

Accepted Answer

We can accept same day bookings, but there are limited spots available, especially on weekends, and we are frequently booked out for a week or more in advance, so we recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.

What if I can't make it to a booked session?

Accepted Answer

We're happy to reschedule if you let us know at least 24 hours before your booking start time. Please note that with less than 24 hours notice your session will be marked as used on your account.

How can I pay?

Accepted Answer

Package fees are due in advance for each quarter, and will be automatically charged the week before your next quarter is due to start. We also accept cash and bank transfers if you prefer. You can manage your package and payment options via our website.

Question 14

Does this mean I actually own the pony?

Accepted Answer

Your quarterly fee provides you with access to your pony according to the type of sessions included in your package. But the My Own Pony programme doesn't actually transfer ownership of our ponies to you and doesn't give you exclusive access to your selected pony (we need to share them with some other lucky kids too!).

How long is a quarter and what are the dates?

Package fees and included number of sessions are set per annual quarter, or part thereof (although if you join within the last few weeks of a quarter we might be able to bend the rules for you). The dates for annual quarters are:
- January 1 to March 31
- April 1 to June 30
- July 1 to September 30
- October 1 to December 31
